why ask him to get rid of half of what he already has? He already has them and they are fine. More hongi would be nice tho.

Thank you very much, I am pleased. Yes, we purists are happy now. Sorry if I was offensive in any way shape or form.

Money is more important to you than the long-term health of your fish?
55g is too small for the large, predatory Electric Blues. They are perhaps one of the most aggressive Haps I know of. It is a terrible idea to keep them with anything small enough for them to fit in their aggressive piscivorous mouths. Another reason is that Electric Blues eat fish while your Mbuna eat aufwuchs. It is IMPOSSIBLE to satisfy the needs of both. If you feed one the proper diet the other will suffer, and vice-versa. You could always sell your Peacock. Selling it would be a good idea, actually.

I agree with acei - mbuna and haps don't belong together, and if you are removing the moorii, you may as well remove the electric blues and peacock as well. You'll be able to provide for the mbuna so much better this way, and a 55 isn't really enough space for the haps anyway.

What are spike fins?? Ignoring them for the moment, I suggest you stick to the three mbuna species - yellow labs, cobalts and hongi, and bring their numbers up to around 5 each, 1 male to 4 females. But be aware that hongi and yellow labs may interbreed, as they are closely related. You may choose to exchange the hongi for a different species, or stick to 2 species as acei suggested.

Do you have any albinos? Get some of a species that you already have, the white will really make a nice contrast with the blues and yellows of the others.

i recommended to get rid of the haps and peacocks as they are not good tankmates with mbuna. that is a basic rule that i like to stick to.

i would get rid of the hongi, peacock and electric blue and go with more cobalt blues and yellow labs. make it a dual species tank and it will be great. i too prefer and advocate species tanks. you shouldnt mix mbuna and haps anyway. read some of ad konnings works. you will learn a lot.

hmm well you're pretty well stocked as it is and as u kno most malawis like being kept in groups... I really think more labs would benefit the whole tank. You could also check into maybe labidochromis hongi . Hongi like groups IME. They are also more aggressive. They add a purple look to your tank. My avatar is a pic of mine.

I say get more of the species that are already in the tank. I am a big advocate of species only tanks and such. I say just get more of what u already have.
