Hardly any fish will survive with 2 or more piranhas as then they will compete for food..

Depending on the size Id think some of the larger guapotes could handle a couple of red bellies pretty easily, especially of equal size. A black pirana, on the ther hand, could dish out some nice damage by its lonesome.

I tried it in a home aquarium, doesn't work.

the tank would have to be huge to make it work. I'm talking several hundred gallons and they'd have to be raised together from about 1". there are some hobbyists could make such a combo work, but not many.

I've seen oscars and pirhanas kept together...in a several thousand gallon display tank at a public aquarium. In most home aquaria these would not be suitable tankmates.

Bryben, oscars and piranhas will not work.. They will either fight to the death (prob the oscars) or everyday your oscar will get more and more pieces missing, then die from stress or disease.

i have 1 oscar i LOVE him!! he is the BEST pet i have ever had.mine will do trix like roll over, jump out of the water for food, and allow its self to be stroked.my oscar will take food from my hand and only my hand sometimes slams the glass @my friends who come near the tank.Oscars can be trained and are very intelligent.possibly the most intelligent fish in the world, and the most in telligent fish i have ever kept!!!!i beg to differ w/any1 who disagrees, like can you train a goldfish to jump out of the water?oscar are AWESOME but the are VERY MESSY, so make sure you have a good filtration system, and a siphoning hose, and you will be all set. make sure you feed a STAPLE food as its MAIN DIET, and maybe if you chose to feeder fish, although it is not recommendid you feed stroe bought feeders, you can safely do this by setting up a breeder tank which will be free of diseases and parasite(hopefully) if you raise them properly.i have a guppie tank.though you can raise a healthy O`s w/out live food you should feed a little live food as that is what they eat in the wild.
good choice.
also you shouldnt ever have to worry about over feeding as Oscars are always hungry BUT STILL NOTE YOU CAN OVER FEED IF FEEDING EXCESSIVELY!
once again good choice as this is a great fish.
