The first, and most simple, is to simply do nothing. If the chasing is being kept to a minimum and your female is for the most part unbothered, then things can be left alone. Having many hiding places and caves will allow your female to remain unpestered by the male. The second, would be to remove her to a holding tank. I have only done this when I wanted to save the fry though. Female Labs will hold for an average of 3-5 weeks, give or take depending on water temperature. If this is her first brood, it is very possible that she'll loose this batch within the first week or two, which is something very common to mouthbrooders. It can be concerning to see them in that state, but it's not necessary to worry. Just make sure they is able to hide most of the time and remain unbothered. |
