For a Spring project I'm thinking of setting up a community tank 15 gal for bettas 1 male and a few females if you know you have spawns or bettas you want to give up let me know thanks, if they are really nice I might be willing to pay for them.
Also I'm looking for a few goldfish to put in my pond come spring I know it's 4 months from now but I figured why not ask now.
I live in MA, on MV but I am in Bristol, RI for school and will be happy to pickup if you are eager to get rid of fish.
Thank you,
ABF

I live in Texas. Last spring I dug some ponds with a bulldozer and lined them with six mil polyethylene. I went to the bait shop and ask for two dozen goldfish. I said I wanted some with more than one color on them. She said they are Koi but they look like comets. They were about 4 inches long last April. Half of them died the first week. They started to spawn real soon. I had about sixty before I knew it. Last fall I drained the pond and culled the ones I wanted to another pond. My neighbor bought what I did not want for his pond. They have not spawned again.

You might try the bait shop. I was pretty sure I did not know what I was doing but it did not cost much.

Do you think the bait shops usually will sell the fish for a descent price I don't hae that much money to spent on fish.
Thanks,

You won't have to give more than a few cents a piece for feeder goldfish at baitshops.. Just be aware that they're rarely in very good shape health-wise, due to the fact that anglers are only needing the fish to be alive enough to wiggle a bit and attract larger fish..

Good Luck with it..

Depends on the laws in your state, in some states such as mine (Pennsylvania) it's illegal to use goldfish as fishing bait, too many fisherman were letting them go and they feared the goldfish would out compete native species. So no goldfish in baitshops. Rosey reds are there though, stay small and can live through anything. Pretty pink color too.

What I would do is go around and find friends who keep goldfish in little tiny bowls and explain to them why they shouldn't be there and why they should be in your nice big pond That would work. If that don't work, feeders at pet stores are real cheap, tell them you want some with more than just orange on em and you should make out good.

Please do not put one male betta with several females in one tank. They will fight. If the male spawns with one of the females, he will try to drive her away and the other females away, and could kill her, possibly the other females also. Females have also been known to kill the males during attempted spawns. A group of females in one tank, that have been kept in a tank together by a breeder, can be done.

[font color="#000080"]Hi. Are you interested in goldfish still??? I have a surplus of small blackmoores, but I want them to go to somebody who knows what they are doing and will nurture them and keep them healthy. No charge, except for shipping. I have the mating pair - they are about 10 inches. The little ones are only about 3 inches so far, but I am sure they'll grow. I change the water at the very least once a week, feed them quality foods and keep up with my water parameters.

Yes I'm still interested my pond isn't very big though 4ft deep and 6 ft wide I'm not sure exactly. I'll take the fish the end of May if you wait to ship them to me until then because I'm at college and won't be cleaning out my pond until it gets warmer I have a 5in goldfish at the moment in a 10 gal tank but if you are worried about the health of the fish. I always bring in the fish for the winter and I'll use rubber maid tubs and filter.
Thanks,
ABF
