i have an empty 55g and im trying to think of some ideas. i have had tiger barbs and was seriously thinking of putting a massive school in my 75g. im thinking about putting some in my 55g. im thinking of a school of 20-25g and then a bigger fish to make the tigers school together tight. but i dont know what would be good. the only things i can think of is RTBS or a convict or firemouth . i need some help

I would go for a biotope tank. Go for a large school of Tiger Barbs and an RTBS and then some Asian plants, it would look good.

American cichlid or African cichlid? You won't be able to have plants unless you go for American dwarfs which won't make your Tiger Barbs school tighter. I would go for some of the smaller Americans such as Convicts or Firemouths but if the TBarbs are small enough they may become lunch.

You can use some severums, they get along fine with tiger barbs. The tiger barbs will also eat the leftover food that comes out of the severums gills. I have kept tigers with severums in 55 gallon tanks with no problems. You can go gold or green severum and regular and albino tigers.
Good luck!

too bad they get physically longer than the tank is wide. a 75 is really the minimum for an oscar to have any semblance of happiness.

How about a Severum, 20 or so Tiger Barbs, and maybe a Bristlenose or something.
