	Add to a shoal
kidsmom Enthusiast Posts: 182 Votes: 1 Registered: 22-Sep-2003	I have 6 harleqiun rasboras in my tank and I want to add 4 more to make the shoal 10, can I do this? And will the 4 new rasboras join the other 6 to become one shoal?

It would be a good idea to add more fish to the group already in there, but you don't want to overstock your tank in doing so. That would hurt much more than it would help, possibly by causing water quality problems down the road. And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

The fish are just setting up a new social heirarchy, as is common with other schooling and shoaling fish. If this happens, it should calm down within a week or two. It sounds like a nicely balanced tank, the only other thing I can think of is perhaps some sort of bottom feeder. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean

I did not know if I should put in different type of shoaling fish or just leave the tank alone. Do you have any suggestions for bottom feeders? Are red tail shark concerned bottom feeders?

iltat Mega Fish Posts: 1076 Kudos: 1216 Votes: 0 Registered: 14-Oct-2002	RTS aren't really considered a dependable bottom-feeder because they have a tendency to cover large amounts of space. They may act sa a bottom-feeder, but you just can't be sure of it... PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.
