Black sharks are best kept with other large fish, because they get territorial with age. They are very active swimmers, and grow to around 30 inches or so. Therefore, these guys need a huge tank. In fact, I'm not quite sure what the minimum tank size is, just because these fish get so big. It is safe to say though, that a single black shark needs at least 150 gallons, and probably way more than that. They aren't easy to house, that's for sure.

Black Sharks can be really aggressive. Best keep it with really tough fish, though this fish has still been known to kill such aggressive cichlid types such as Jaguars and such. For a while this fish could be kept in a 180 gallon, but as a fish that can reach almost 3' long you better be prepared to keep a fish that needs room like a Pacu.

Giant Gourami are fairly common. Shouldnt be too hard to track down. I think they would be ok with the black shark.

A Giant Gourami is probably tough enough to handle a Black Shark.
