I was at my LFS yesterday and discovered this beautiful fish. The only downside is that they are 19.99 US dollars each!!! They are a schooling fish so that would surely put a dent in my wallet. Does anyone have them?

New research into the Denisonii's habitat is starting to show that at adulthood they're not schoolers, generally, so if you can find good-sized specimens it's probably OK to keep a pair. Gorgeous fish, aren't they? A number of people are working on breeding them; I hope someone succeeds soon.

I have 4. Had 5, but the newest fellow passed away. I am thinking of giving them away because for some reason, I get paranoid they will konk off after a water change. They are extremely sensitive to chemicals in the water and so expensive, that you dont really want to be losing them.

However, if I did have like loads of money, I would keep them, they are funny fish, and forever hungry :%)

i am guessing these are the in fish, with the colors. give it time, and they will be bred to be less expensive, and hardy.

Actually 19.99 is a fabulous price for Denisoni Barbs.
Recently I saw them at one pet store that wanted 46 CAD for them, or about $38 USD per fish
