Hello! Long time, no posts.
(I am sure the forum addiction will start again)

Anyway- Today, My girlfriend and I went to the LFS and we saw these Painted Barbs, Does anyone know their scientific name, or anything about them?
They are pink, they school, and very much resemble the Tiger Barb. ..What is it?

u dont know what it is,
not b/c it is painted, and dont support there cause and stuff.

We did buy them. 4 of them. The fish shop just sold them like they were just another barb..

Well, I have them now- I think they are Tiger Barbs, they match the shape and habbits. I read all about painted fish.. (the LFS neglected to tell me anyting like that!)

when my family found out what they were.. we were all "awww" .. yeah, tattoing fish is horiable.

Next time you're at that LFS you might have a few words with the manager . Let them know that you really don't appreciate the practice especially since they don't notify the customers what practices were done to make the fish catch their eye.

I actually had a LFS employee tell me that a pink-dyed Cory was a new species of fish that had just been discovered and was now being sold in stores!!! I laughed hysterically then walked out.

some dont know anybetter, where some do, base ur decision carefully.

again if they are red tiger barbs, i dont think these were injected, or maybe, but i saw them in a book, from along time ago, so maybe it isn't injected.

the ones I've seen over here are not painted.
They're bred, just like green and blue tigers.

Still, an unnatural form, that I can't appreciate.
You won't see them in any of my tanks ...
