Hi, i have 3 Silver sharks in my community tank, yesterday i did a water change and added a home made Co2 system(not sure if its working yet), today two of my Sharks have been behaving rather oddly, they are swimming together with one kind of on top sideways and they are rubbing their fins and bodies together,it looks like mating behaviour but they are only about 3.5 inches long, has anyone seen somthing like this?
thanks.

Tank parramaters;

38g
fairly well planted
ph 6.8-7.0
28c temp
two filters with low current in tank
they are fed flake in morning and bloodworms and brine shimp at night also various vegies once or twice a week, cucumber,zuccini,lettuce etc.

They are most likely fighting. Bala sharks are not commonly bred in captivity and would not be showing breeding behavior at such a small size.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Hi, after looking around the net it seems that Silver sharks
exibit this behaviour after a water change and when the barometric pressure is high, also food seems to be a factor as in most storys they were also just fed.

The evidence seems to point to breeding behaviour, coinciding with high air pressure, new water and abundance of food.

In my case the water had just been changed, they had been fed blood worms and they pressure was between 1017(lowest) and 1031(highest), over a three day period.

The fact that my Silver sharks are not very big, about 3-3.5 inches is interesting, is this behaviour just practising or a direct result of conditions.

There doesnt seem to be alot of information about breeding behaviour in these sharks, so im not sure when they reach sexual maturity.
