I was thinking of getting some lemon tetra's for my tank but when visiting a local fish supplier i noticed some bright yellow danios (cant remember what exact ones they were) and i thought that these would stand out alot better than the lemon tetra's Cheers |

They wont be as tight as tetras, and may not hang out together much if at all once they're comfortable in their surroundings. So if you want schooling stick with tetras. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Even then I wouldn't of called it schooling, they sort of were in a ball with each fish just swinmming real close to the other ones. |

Danios are indeed shoaling fish, and will in fact shoal together no matter what number you have in your tank. This is also the case for most Tetras I have come across. If you want nicely schooling fish you'd be better off looking towards Rasboras and not Danios or Tetras at all... ![]() |

They used to do it more when I just got them and for a few weeks after, but as soon as they found out that they are the fastest fish in the tank they became VERY confident and started to disperse. Nowadays, the only time they come together is when they play chase, which happens mostly in the morning after the lights go on. They chase each other around in groups of 2 to 3, like madmen. Some of them have established little territories in the tank and will chase away any intruder that is not bigger or stronger than them. Overall, these guys create A LOT of action, but shoaling is a rare thing now. Ingo ![]() |

Mine schoal off and on- but they are really active and i have 10 or 11 of them. cant keep them counted their to busy. I really like the danios, but if you want something that will stick together tightly- go with harlie rasboras. |

Profile here: [link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/redline.xm I only ever managed to keep 3 Harlequins so was never able to see if they schooled as well as my Red Lines, but they did seem to remain close together whenever I watched the tank....
