[font color="#C00000"]I'm getting a 29 gal soon, and I was wondering what a good tankmate would be for Tiger Barbs. At the very very very least I want 5 tiger barbs.

I was told that bamboo shrimp would be a nice tankmate, they don't produce much bioload, and I could have more Tiger barbs.

But I'm open to suggestions! Thanks everyone!

I'd go with some snails and a BN/amano/ghost shrimp. Bamboo shrimp, in the presence of such aggressive fish, will often starve (they are generally filter feeders, anyways, so unless you want to dose plankton everyday, I'd go with something else).

I have 10 Tiger Barbs, a Chinese Algae Eater and three White Apple Snails in my 29 gallon tank. They are great together. You will love your Tigers. Get some hanging plants real or fake and watch them hang out trying to look like leaves.

You do, of course, realize that CAEs can grow past a foot in length?

Yep! But they grow very slowly, this guy is five years old now, I've had him for two years. He's almost 5".
