Otocinclus catfish seem to do well with my tiger barbs, plus they are lots of fun to watch. They stay very small and help clean the icky stuff from around the tank.

Thanks for responding Tiger. I am from the USA. I know the log isn't real, i saw the same one at a local petco in one of their fish tanks. They had none for sale or even anything that resembled it. I asked some of the workers where i could get one and they had no idea. That log would be a perfect fit for my algae water or my electric yellow. Thanks again.

My rainbow shark seems to do fine with my tiger barbs. Only rarely do I see him chase them. Most of the time he doesn't even seem to acknowledge their existence.

fishtooth, from what country are you from?. I'm from Australia and I got it from a lfs at Nerang on the Goldcoast. It not real. Its terracotta. Looks the real thing though, and no tarnished water problems.

Hey TigerAngel, where did you get that log from in your tank? I have been looking for something like that for a long time but can't find it anywhere.

I am going to be starting over with my 55 gallon aquarium. I would like to keep about 10 Tiger Barbs plus some other fish. I would like to add a Redtail Black Shark or a Rainbow Shark (but not both obviously!). Any way, which shark do you think I should get? I am just not sure if the Tiger Barbs will get along better with one than the other. Thanks for all of your help!!

P.S. If there are any other fish that you have mixed with Tiger Barbs I would like a couple more suggestions. Here are a few that I think would do fine with them:

- Rosy Barbs
- Giant Danios
- Zebra Danios

I am not really into the Giant or Zebra Danios just so everyone knows. Thanks for all of the help!!!

My hubbys tank has 2 of each Tiger Barbs. Normal Tiger/ Moss Green Tiger and the Albino Tiger, with a Albino Rainbow shark and they get on fine. The shark is around 6".
You can see one of the green tigers under the shark, being hand fed. The tigers come to the hand also to be fed.

"Not based on experience, but in a tank that big, I think the RTBS will have room for its own"

I thought the same thing but the RTBS actually went out of his way to chase my tiger barbs all the time and my tank has LOTS of cover. It was a sad day when I had to give him back to the LFS because he was such a beautiful fish.

Yes

I was thinking, and if I could I would, that if I had a 55 gallon I would have an RTBS and tiger barbs

Not based on experience, but in a tank that big, I think the RTBS will have room for its own

How about a bala shark? I think they get along with tiger barbs. Size would be the only problem. Dwarf puffers get along well with tiger barbs but are fin nippers.

Actually, I had a terriable time getting my red-tailed shark to stop chasing the tiger barbs ALL the time. I think it is mentioned on here before that it happens a lot. No idea why. I think it might have something to do with their tails being similar in shape and color (RTBS don't enjoy the company of the same species) so maybe that has something to do with it. hrug:
