I have been debating the addition of a shoal of tiger barbs to my 29 gallon aquarium, but cannot decide on the color morph I prefer. Please assist me in my decision by relaying to me what you prefer and why. Choices range from the natural(orange and black) color, the albino variation, or the green color morph. If anyone prefers any other type of shoaling barbs I am open for suggestions. Also if anyone could tell me how many tiger barbs to include in a single shoal I would be extremely appreciative.

I've got 12 in my 29 gal. 2 are albino and 10 are the regular. I've never had much luck with the green for some reason so I've stayed away from them. You should have at least 6 in the shoal and remember they can be very nippy.

When I first began fish keeping I kept tiger, albino and green tiger barbs and they all schooled together and never bothered anyone else. My advice would be to simply buy several of each.

I like the orange and black best. i think it looks great with a planted tank and it is the most natural. You will want at least 6 of the tigers you chose as they will be more nippy when kept in lesser numbers.

Tiger Barbs are a great fish for a tank that size. I have kept 6 or more in my 29 Gallon and am currently setting it back up for another barb community. Tiger need to be in a school of at least 6. They will mainly chase each other and not bother other fish. I have had Tigers chase my corys very aggressively for days at a time. Barbs are best kept with other barbs, Corys do well for lower strata fish in a barb tank. Tigers will alos school with Green tigers barbs and Black Ruby barbs. Certainly one of my favorite fish! They are attractive and display interesting behavior in a community tank.

i have 6 different types of barbs in my 55 gallon, tigers, green tigers, albino tigers, golds, black rubys, and checkered. of the tigers i prefer the normal ones, and as far as the other types, the black ruby are awsome looking fish, i wish i could find some more, and the checkered may look kind of plain at first, but take a closer look and you will see just how playful and colorful they actually are, not to mention they stay relativly small and can be kept in a large group with out using up much tank space.

im getting a 40 gallon tank in a few weeks and am planning on moving some of my larger catfish into it just to make room for more checkered and black ruby barbs

Black Ruby Barbs are pretty cool. I have two in my tank with my three tigers (used to be 4 but i just lost one). My smaller one gets great colors ever now and again. What can any one tell me about the checkerd barbs compared to the tigers? Also is there any other barbs that say small that can hang with tigers?
