Anyone know how long WCMM's remain gravid? I'm fairly sure I've got 3 males 4 females, 2 of the males always flaring @each other. One of my females however always seems to be gravid and always hangs out in a corner by herself. ^_^ ![]() Current [link=Contest Rules]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Aquascaping/44382.html?200412022138" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] ![]() |

I recently purchased some new WCMM to add to the two I had, and three of them seem to look like they are ready to burst at the seams. I am not particlarly interested in breeding them now, but I certainly do not want them to suffer or die from being egg bound. |

They dont burst or anything, they just never get skinny. Two of them are HUGE!! ![]() Come Play Yahtzee With Me! http://games.atari.com Http://www.myleague.com/yahtgames |

I have one that would make a balloon company happy. I keep waiting to find her expired in the tank. She fattened up on good food in my tank, then filled up with eggs. It seems she is grossly eggbound (about 1.5 years now). I read up on "expressing" eggs and learned that the process can kill the fish and should not be done. I had read somewhere that by netting the fish against the glass you can gently squeeze the belly and release the eggs. However, Doc Johnson, (aka koivet), who performs surgery on eggbound goldfish and expensive koi, says such a process can kill them by bursting other organs. The only way to successfully treat an eggbound fish is through surgery, if the boys can't get it done - not practical for such tiny fish. So, I live and let live and figure, one day, she'll be gone. These pics are old (when I still had fake plants in the tank ![]() http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/di_kor/album?.dir=5c30&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//photos.yahoo.com/ph//my_photos Last edited by Cory_Di at 17-Jan-2005 23:33 |
