OK, so I was watching them during feeding this evening, and noticed that they were doing the same thing. they never did it b4, but I just planted the tank earlier this week. they go up under the leaf and kinda hang there, vertically. anyone?
ps, just checked the water 78 degrees, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, nitrate 10 ppm(always have been), and pH is 7.

go here to learn more, I think it is a spawning thing

OK here's one for you....I've noticed some of the Harley's, which are schooling great BTW, are going up underneath plant leaves and turning themselves upside down???? Is this their spawning ritual? The females depositing eggs????? A quick reply would be great. Thanks everyone!

OK Harley's it is...just got a school of 8......i'm so excited. We've changed the gravel in the tank and gotten some more realistic looking plants. Also cleaned the tank good and now am using the Harley's as my cycing fish, although they will remain in the tank after cycling is complete. Can't wait for the Angels!

Ok we are about to start our community tank over and so far we have agreed that we will get 1 black veil angel, 1 silver angel, 4 Julli leopard cories and ?????????We want to put a school of small fish in with them, no more than an inch and a half max. size. We have boiled it down to 2 options...well 3 now my wife just found this one in my aqarium fish book. If you have any information about the 3rd choice (Myers' Hatchetfish), seeing as how I haven't done any research on that one yet, i'd be glad to hear it. So here they are.

Books:
Oh, and at least 2 more cories too.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I've never had the chance to keep them, but I've always loves harleys. To me, zebras are boring, run of the mill, blah. Great cyclers, but don't do much for me after that. They also might nip and the angel, and we wouldn't want that.

The hatchets get my vote. How large of a tank is it though? I don't think you said that anywhere in your post.

Also, I think that you should pick up two more of the cories (which are most likely C. trilineatus, not julii), since they are happier in groups of more than five. Six cories are much more active than four... I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this yet!

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I'd go for the hatchetfish; that way you've got a nice South American combination.

Harlequins. Nice, tight schooling hardy fish. Danios might be a bit too zippy for the angels.
