Word of caution if you get these. They will not tolerate warm temperatures well. They like temps around 70-74F top.

Why only 2? How big is the tank? They like to be in schools of at least 6. Even 2 more would be a charm, but only if the tank can handle it.

I keep mine around 74-75F, but I've had them higher. I think fish can tolerate higher levels if it is increased gradually.

I really hate to be contradictory, but since you have submitted those temps there, I look for your submissions to change the above linked profile. As it states 72F being the highest temp. As well as most other profiles about this fish.

All fish are different, but I try to tell people the closest range for their natural habitat. Yours may have been tank bred or farm raised, as many are. But I would hate to give anyone info of a fish, for them only to get some that were wild and did poorly at ranges way outside their normal/natural habitat.

So I will refrase my above posting to say;
These fish may do poorly at temp ranges above 70-74F.

I'm still most concerned with the quantity of 2. That is a bigger issue than having them at 74-75F.

I'd still like to know the tank size and the other inhabitants.

Since the temperature issue was brought up, I have to post this.
I can't remember where I read this, but I'll do some searching later to try and find it. Then I'll post the link.
The article talked about the natural environment of White Cloud Minnows. It stated that they not only lived in the montainous areas but also downstream where the water temperatures are actually tropical for most of the year.
Before I bought some of these fish, I did a lot of research about the acceptable water temperatures. The main consensus was anything up to 78F would be perfectly fine for a normal life.

I got them free from a teacher at my college. She was moving and had to get rid of all her fish tanks. These were the only two fish left. As of yet I have no had the opportunity to move to a bigger tank. They are in a cycled 2.5 gallon as a temporary home. This coming week is spring break and i will be fixing everything for them to have a nice happpy home in my 20 gallon. I was going to get some more but could only find them at walmart and i do not buy walmart fish because of past problems. I will get more later from my LFS when i get home and get these 2 settled. The teacher said she had more but they fought som much she had to separate them. these 2 were the only ones that got along.

i have a school of WCMM in my 55g tank that is around 77 - 78 degrees.

they have been fine for over a year now. I would say they tolerate warm waters just fine, they also have exelent colors.

So. Do you think it would be ok to place them in an unheated 10 gallon cycled tank. My grandmother keeps the house at a pretty steady 75* F now she also likes to keep the light on so she can see them better.
