I'm just wondering what you all are feeding. I have a tank with six harlequine rasboras, some mollies, a dwarf pleco and a pair of blue dwarf gouramis. I currently just feed tropical flakes, but am woundering what I could also feed them, tubifex, blood worms or something. just wondering |

It's kind of funny to watch them with the pellets, since they're usually the same size as or larger than the harleys' mouths. They'll grab one, then float in place for a few seconds trying to suck it down. Then as snacks, I'll feed them freeze dried bloodworms, which they eat with gusto, and different frozen foods. Come to think of it, they'll eat ANYTHING I put in that tank. Even when I drop in algae wafers for my BN, they attack it as it's sinking. |

Flake food is a good staple, while frozen and live foods make great treats. Go ahead and give them some tubifex, you will see how much they like it. ![]() |

They are not good at picking from the bottom. My white cloud females have learned how to eat any wafer or stick that sinks to the bottom, with all the grace of a guppy. The males wait around for it to be stirred up so they can have some. The rasboras aren't even smart enough to do that ![]() I feed mine a varied diet and try to replace the food every 60-90 days because vitamins deplete. AT all times, and as a staple, I feed my tank Hikari MicroPellets. I feed twice daily, so the second meal is either Hikari Freeze Dried Blood worms, Hikari F.D. Daphnia, Hikari F.D. Brine Shrimp, and on the weekends, I'll dump a thawed cube of Hikari Frozen Bloodworms in the tank a few at a time. They really go nuts for that. Why Hikari? They put everythign through a 3-stage sterilization process. You'll see some other brand that only sterilizes some things, like Tubifex. Fact is, parasites and eggs can and do survive freezing, boiling, and even drying. I also always buy the smallest container I can find so that I don't have to throw too much away. I also have several tanks, so I can spread that stuff out more. Daphnia is great because it keeps them regular ![]() |
