Personally I'd be worried....but then I worry about anything out of the ordinary with my fish. Vertical swimming is for sure a sign of concern in my book. Any changes in diet in the past few weeks? Is he eating the same as the others.
The silver patch, does it look fuzzy or more like an injury?
How sure are you about your numbers? I notice you have no nitrAtes is the tank planted or still in the cycling phase?

I think you might do better with this thread in hospital BTW .

Hold on... I think the floating vertically may be natural behavior. Check [link=this]http://fishprofiles.com/files/forums/Cyprinid%20Corner/60833.html" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] thread. Do you have other tiger barbs in with this fellow? I think the silver patch you describe may just be where a scale or two is missing, and nothing to worry about.

Can you describe the "patch" in more detail? Is it fuzzy, lumpy, discolored around the edges? We do need more info before we can declare that your fish is healthy. It would be awesome if that were the case, but assuming that it is so won't help your fish if it is indeed ill.

well, it doesn't look fuzzy at all, and i now think that it is a heeling wound....as there seems to be a spot of blood underneath the silver patch at the bottom, it isn't leaking blood or anything, it just seems to be under the scales. All my other tiger barbs, all 12 of them, are fine
