How many are in that tank currently?

Both plecos and goldfish are heavy waste producers...personally I think a 55 is too small for goldfish let alone adding a pleco.

With heavy enough filtration to prevent any of the goldfish waste from settling on the substrate it might be possible as a temporary set up, but not really something I'd suggest for longterm.

It *could* be okay for the time being, but that arrangement will not work out in the long run. I can't speak for the goldfish, but the sailfin pleco will definitely need more room. These beasts can top one and a half feet, meaning that ninety gallons would be much more suitable for them. I would not recommend keeping a sailfin in there for long, especially not after the fish passes a foot in length.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

yes, the temperature problem is quite a problem indeed. You would have to comprimise one of their needs, and that wouldn't be good. Also, both those fish get to enourmous sizes. That, in itself, is enough, but they also produce huge amounts of waste. I will agree with everyone else and say no.
