pennykate![]() Hobbyist Posts: 91 Kudos: 10 Votes: 0 Registered: 10-Mar-2003 | what could i get that could handle a bossy...rts....i love him to death but he is agressive and chases everything to death......any ideas? i hate to lose him but the tank is empty with only a bn pleco in there and i would like a few other fish.....<br>i do have a couple of jewel cichlids that are agressive, would they work, or would they hurt him??? that i don't want either....<br>thanks for the help<br>ellie<img src='/images/forums/rolleyes.gif' border=0> |

Also, what size are the shark and the jewels? If their sizes differ too much, you could end up with some dead fish on your hands. |

They can definitly handle a RTBS. As for the cichlids, I personally wouldn't put the RTBS with them. The shark may be aggressive, but the jewel cichlid would destroy the shark. |

A school of tiger barbs should be okay if you have the room. Other things I've seen work have included Siamese Algae Eaters, Otocinclus, or a variety of others... Make sure you have a nice-sized cave for your shark to establish his territory around, make sure you have LOTS of plants and other hiding spots for smaller companions to use to their advantage, and make sure you have a large enough tank (at least 40 gallons) for a grown RTS. With enough room, enough hiding places, and enough territory, most RTS will calm down and stop being overly aggressive as compared to any other territorial fish... ![]() PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread. |
