Rainbow sharks get too big for a 20 gallon. Tiger babrbs get pretty big. I would just make it a species tank.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I have 3 tiger barbs and two yellow labs in my 20. Brown and white substrate, and made two nice caves with redish slate. The colors look great barbs (1 in.) and labs (2 in.) have gotten along fine. Really fun to feed them freeze dried shrimp. Lots of action!

You could have one school of six tigers, and 6-8 cories. A gourami or betta might fit in there as well.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

I would not put any shy or long-finned fish in with tiger barbs. They like to nip long fins.

tiger barbs will nip fins and can damage fins. When I stick my arm in my yellow lab tank to move a rock or something I get noticible nips from my barbs on my arm, not my labs, (yet). My pearl Gourami, and neon tetras did not do well from my expirience.
