I wouldn't trust the Barbs, as they;re very good & fast in fin-nipping.

I had tiger barbs and danios together for quite some time with no problem. As long as they both have a decent sized school they should be fine. The two do look pretty neat together.

the zebra danios are probably too fast for the tiger barbs, but just be aware that tiger barbs are known to gang up on fish from time to time.

Couple of things that are facts here:

Zebra Danios are terribly fast and might escape...

Tiger Barbs are nippers and seem to wake up in the morning, thinking hmmmmm I wonder who I can get today...

If you want both and are willing to risk itgive them each nice size schools 15 or so, plenty of plants and driftwood, and a large tank....at leat 55 gallon, that way if the tigers are going to go nippy, the danios will have the room to run for it, and possibly wear the barbs out in the process...

The key to keeping any fish, in my opinion, is plenty of room and places to go when avoiding unneeded agression....

i would expect the tigers and the danios 2 be fine as they come from the same region, and also if the tigers are in a large enough shoal/school, then they will not bother others, i have 4 keyholes with mine, and the male has huge fins.........they haven't been touched by the little fellers

They should be fine, just make sure you get at least 6 tiger barbs. If they are in a large enough school they will only bother their own kind. Zebras are extremely fast so I can't see anything really catching them to nip fins. You will want at least 6 zebra danios as well, as they really like to be in a school.

Having a school of 6 or more Tiger Barbs does not always mean they are not going to go fin nipping. Sometimes you'll get one bully in the bunch who will go after not only the other Tigers but anything else. I've found that they like slow moving, big finned targets the best though. Zebras are always moving fast and they're small, but you never know.

The 6 or more rule is a myth and i advise everyone to NOT purchase tiger barbs considering this rule. If you have long or coloured finned fish - the tiger barbs WILL nip at them until they kill them of stress.

I agree with Hasi...but you should be fine with the Zebra danios.I have 6 tiger barbs and 3 zebra danios and they never did anything to them.
Never have any fish with some long colourful tails..the tiger barbs surely will nipp the fins.

As an example for people i lost 4 of my 6 flame tetras to my tiger barbs and i have a school of 9 tiger barbs. I seen the flame tetras losing bits of their fins but i watched the tank for hours and at seperate times and didn't see the tiger barbs nip at them once. I have a 75g tank so they have plenty of space and a school of 9 is a reasonable size, i recently added 7 rummynose tetras and within 2 days their fins were losing bits, i knew it was the barbs and the ONLY time i hadn't watched them was the morning so i wake up early one morning and what do you know - the barbs were ALL individually and slowly trying to nip their fins.

I have seperated them now into a smaller tank and everything is fine. I dont know why but the ONLY time they nipped was in the MORNING, i even stayed up late at night to watch them and it didn't happen once, so be careful in the morning...
