I'm a beginner. i've had my tank (55ltr, 60x30,30) for 9 days. I started with 2 small balas, then 10 neon tetras, then 1 sailfin pleco. everything is going well the water is nice and the fish seem very happy. when i feed them, it's a real "bottom of the tank" thing. what fish are good for feeding from the top?

first thing a 55L tank is way to small for balas they grow very large and prefer to be in shoals.
also most plecos grow up to 18inches not sure about a sailfin, but i think it's a large pleco.

i would take the 2 balas back and get some livebearers such as swordtails. bala
pl*co take him back to and get either a clown pleco or ottos.

did you cycle the tank? what equipment do you have?

i have couple of swordtails. like the danios, all like to feed from the top. try some platies too.
the tiger barbs i have like to go to the surface and grab the food quickly, then go to the middle.

I would not recomend neon tetras to cycle a tank you risk geting neon tetra disease if they get stressed. Then you will have to euthanize all of your fish and start from scratch because you will have to break down and sanatize your tank. Diaomond tetras are a good hearty fish, and have worked well for me when cycling I allways recomend them. How are you feeding the sailfin?
