Well, in a 20 gallon, I would stay away from the eels and the violet goby. They can get very large and would definitely outgrow it.

You could probably keep 1 or 2 mudskippers. Remember though, that they need to be able to get out of the water.

2 Figure 8 puffers, they stay small, ~3 inches with tail. Other puffers get too big for a 20.

1 Flounder, however they are very difficult to keep.

I don't have a lot of experience with the leaf fish, halfbeaks or gobies. Also, I don't know how a newt would do in a brackish set up, but I think they are generally discouraged in tanks in general.

Newts are FW. If that was my tank, I'd get 2 F8 puffers & some bumblebee gobies.

a figure 8 puffer, a pair of fan dance gobies, and a trio of fiddler crabs is all i would put in.

violet gobies grow as large as a 20g tank. newts are freshwater. mudskippers are agressive and grow to 8" long, too big for a 20g tank.

The only freshwater moray that could live in that tank is E. rhodochilus. I have one. Unfortunately, that species is rather difficult to find, and will eat anything it can catch, and you'd be suprised what it can catch.

Fiddlers with puffers is a bad mixture---not only that, but they need land access as well.

Me three!

The puffers and the BBGs normally get along. Biggest thing with them is to simply make sure the BBGs are getting enough food...those puffers can be quite pig-like

That's a fact I had that problem in the beginning until the bees settled in and realized the puffers wouldn't bother them and they could eat too.
