How much salt per gallon? | |

pufferpunk Big Fish Posts: 462 Kudos: 395 Votes: 0 Registered: 21-Feb-2003 | It all depends on the fish you are planning to keep. Most BW fish start out in low-end BW & move up to SW as an adult. The minimum for low-end, would be around 1.005. That would be about a cup of marine salt/5gal of water. Best measured by a hydrometer. |

puffer_archer Enthusiast Posts: 288 Kudos: 250 Votes: 4 Registered: 20-Jul-2004 | That's what I use, I keep my sg at around 1.010 and discovered that I can simply halve the directions. I use a quarter cup per gallon. You would probably want to use between 4 and 5 tablespoons per gallon to reach 1.005. Best thing though is to use a hydrometer to make sure the sg is correct.
