got a green spotted puffer and the profile says i need to have brakish water so how do i go about doing this i guess u use aquarium salt but how much and how often to get it right.

Check out this article on GSPs. It should tell you everything you want to know.

Some general points though, you're going to want to use a marine salt, not "aquarium" salt. You'll also want to pick up a good hydrometer to measure the amount of salt in the water. Assuming he is in freshwater now, you'll want to raise the specific gravity slowly, by no more than .002 per week to protect the biological filter.

just bought some marine salt. how much salt per gallon do i put in each day/week or whatever to get it to low brackish 1.005 - .008

oh yeah if im supposed to reach 1.005 -8 what rule do i go by aswell as buying a hydrometre is it 1 tbsp per 5g or 1g would help so i can get some salt in today before i get the hydrometer .

You could easily get that salinity by adding about one or two tablespoons per gallon. However, for accurate salinity you should use a hydrometer or a refractometer to measure it.
