Troy_Mclure Fish Addict Posts: 725 Kudos: 306 Registered: 20-Jan-2003 | Hi everyone. I'll be getting a 100g bowfront tank soon. Im looking for a bit of inspiration for stocking it. Im considdering making it a discus tank with a few rams and corys - or keeping a green terror in it if its possible - or a yoyo loach tank with other asian community fish. Aaaanyway, if you could throw a few suggestions my way I'd really apreciate it. |

How's this for a setup ... 30 Panda Corys 30 Cardinals 30 Lemon Tetras 16 Otocinclus 3 pairs of apisotgramma panduro 16 Marble Hatchets Furnish with gnarled, intricate bogwood, big Amazon Sword as centrepiece plant, grow Java Moss on the bogwood to give the fishes a spawning medium, and possibly have a curtain of Giant Vallineria along the back of the aquarium to provide that nice 'green wall' effect. Should prove to be fun once it's up and running. |

Maybe with the Salvani you could add a Severum. If you wanted to stick with the Green Terror you might be able to keep it with a Red Devil and a Texas Cichlid. I think that would be a good combination. With such a large tank the possibilities are really endless. I'd love to have space for a tank that size. JBE |

pookiekiller12 Fish Addict Posts: 574 Kudos: 633 Votes: 41 Registered: 13-Apr-2004 | My first thoughts go to: Discus hatchetfish(I prefer the marbled) ottos And a trio(or possibly two trios) of apistos. (apisots could easily be replaced with cories.) Do you have a preference for larger fish?? What type of water are you dealing with? Option two that jumped into my head: 3 or four pearl gouramis 20-30 harlequin rasboras 8-10 celebes rainbows 8+ botia striata(one of the fish called zebra loach) 12+ ottos pleco of your choice(pay attention if it needs wood in its diet) a male and 3 female golden wonder killies. |

Then you could add a group of yoyos, a big school of harlequins, and maybe a pair or two of cherry barbs for some different color. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Troy_Mclure Fish Addict Posts: 725 Kudos: 306 Registered: 20-Jan-2003 | Wow! thanks for all the replies Sorry all Ive got a bad case of excitedabouthavingabignewtank-itis. I seem to be changing my mind every half hour now in relation to what I'd like to keep. a large school of cories would be fantastic....so would a discus or 2... I have had rams in the past and they did not mix well with java moss. they tended to get stuck in it in the past and Im not too fond of java moss now for that reason. My available water is at the 7 to 7.5 ph range. Cant tell you the hardness right now as I am at work and cant remember that. Being in Australia it can be hard to get some of the apistos in the above posts. Apisto species are rare/expensive here. Last time I saw a cockatoo dwarf cichlid it wasnt even an inch long and they wanted 50 bucks for it. Hatchets can be hard to find too and the tank I am getting will need new lids so I'll h,1old off on them even though I'd like to keep some. I dont think I have ever seen a snakeskin gourami here to date. If I did I'd buy it and keep it in my other tank. It is a little understocked. its a 30gal, it has 1 bn, 1 pearl gourami, 1 RTBS and 1 Salmon red rainbow (that is too frisky for its own good ). Anyhow, I am still enjoying all your posts and its good to see most of you are still into aquariums. |
