Firstly, I'd like to apologize for being completely inactive on here for so long. I'll try to be more active from this point on.

Regarding the subject of this post...

Today, I decided in the large feat of upgrading the habitat of my fish from a 10g to a 29g. I found a nice place in the basement for the new tank, and transferred the fish into it earlier today. I have the old filter, as well as the new one on the new tank. The gravel, and water however, is completely new. I tested for Ammonia, which was positive at a low level. Nitrites were also visible, and nitrates were non-existant. Temperature was at 76 degrees Fahrenheit (which was the temperature of the old tank).

Two hours later, the fish all seem to be doing well. They've all eaten and are pleasantly swimming about the tank. I'll take pictures when I get a chance, and post them here.

I'd be glad to answer any questions about the upgrade, or if you have any concerns you'd like to state, I'd love to hear them.

Thanks!

yea i just recently did the same thing, except i dident use the old filter all i used was the heater, i thing some of the gravel from the old tank, i had taken it out to mix it with another, but i have been using the same gravel for all my tanks, and i populated it with live and fake plants, and used a bunch of rocks, which i wont be using again ( i have had a bad experiance with them recentyl but i dont think i ever went through a cycle fish were fine all the way through, but due to the birthig of 5 guppies i have moved the others back to the 10, for now after i sat the 30 up again, it will be sandy, filled with new species of fish, plants and will be a better home for them all, im also getting a sponge filter for optimal filtration, what kind of fish do u have ? decor just so i and picture it in my head, your fish sound happy

I wish all three of you luck and hope nothing goes wrong for any of you...

As for your tanks, I'd watch for ammonia spikes, I'd feed as LITTLE as possible for the next month-month and a half to try to keep the amount of ammonia present as small as possible. I'd also attempt to keep the tanks as understocked as possible during this time period by adding no new fish until the cycle's completely finished. Good luck and I hope for the best...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Good luck to you all !

Iltat.. Don't forget once the tank is cycled, there's always the chance of a mini-cycle once you add even more fish so after the tank is cycled only add fish a couple at a time if they're small and wait a coupe weeks, or one larger fish at a time.
Peace !
