Hello,
I am back with yet another Breeding question. What are some suggestions for a 10g tank to breed. No livebearers please but also not too hard. My ideas were Kribs, Jewels and Hatchetfish but any other suggestions? Thanks.

Chris

Do you have alot of 10g or something? Why not just buy bigger tanks so you have more options?

Kribs are pretty easy to breed. A 10g may be ok...not sure though.

You could get into betta breeding, but do some research first. And you have to have another tank to keep the female in when not breeding.

absoutly no betta breeding, as from you PM you know nothing, even the basics on bettas. certainly not leaving a pair of bettas together in a 10 gallon for years.

you can't breed a fish without knowing the basics, and you didnt do any reach, and if you did you would know that they should live together and the fry need to be moved from the father.

research,research,research... i been breeding bettas for longer than you been fishkeeping, and the thing that bothers me, and maybe others is the lack of research and knowledge. and the factor of limited room, which you dont seem to be getting.

--------------------------

again, i wouldn't go with kribs, my male is over 6 years old and 8 inches. with only a small limited number of 10 gallons try breeding neons. neons isn't that easy and it should be more of a challange than livebearers.

again if it is a chanllange you seek, try arowana breeding in 500 + gallon tanks. or oscar breeding in 100s.

But make sure you do alot of reasearch, I was gonna breed bettas but I did my reasearch and found that I have too do too much brineshrimp hatching so I found it too too hard with limited reachsearch, so just make sure u know what you have to do and be prepared.

Try Tanichthys micagemmae (the "new" White Cloud). They are pretty rare, but extremely easy to breed.

I bred mine like a week after I got them.

If you're looking for a species that will work in a 10G, try this one:

Hyphessobrycon amandae

You'll have fun finding it though!

As it only reaches 2cm in length, you'll find it a bit easier to manage in a 10G than many other fishes ... if you can find the species. You might have to order it specially.
