I know 10g tanks are not the best things for most fishes, but i was thinking of making a list of tank possibilites since i seem to run into people with only a 10g and i'd like to offer them alternatives to keeping fishes that grow to be huge or mean! I'd post the list on my website too or something so that other people with 10g tanks can have options available to them up front.

i'm not sure on on the numbers here, but i know some things that can be kept in a 10g are female bettas, small schooling fish such as tetras or zebra danios, bumble bee gobies, small cichlids, blah blah blah. I know many of these fish would be happier in a larger tank, but i just want to know what fish can be raised to adulthood in a 10g and at what number. Thanks for any help in advance!

A single figure 8 puffer and a few bumblebee gobies would look nice.

Here are other common options:

Most small tetras
khulies
ottos
cories
smaller end livebearers
smaller end plecs
dwarf cichids

-small rasboras, such as exclamation points, pygmies, emerald dwarfs
-pygmy cories
-killies
-paradisefish
-shellies

A heavily planted tank with either 6 cardnal tetras or 6 neon tetras. With good lighting, the plants would really bring out the blues and reds on them. Well...thats what I would do ^.^

numberwise in a 10g, you could have 6-10 tetras depending on the species, tankmates and filteration.
id either go for somthing like 10 cardinals or 6 cardinals and a ram.

that threadfin/ram tank must be gorgeous!!!! those are some of my favorites. course.... i have so many favorites i guess most of these guys listed so far are my favorites!!!!

so 6-10 of the up to 2" size tetras?

seems like there are so many options for a 10g, but people still keep the wrong fishies in them all the time ={ appreciating the feedback, guys! keep it comin!!!!

I have a planted tank(10 gallon)with 7 home-grown male guppies, 2 ADF's, and 1(soon to be 3)peppered cories. Cleaners are ghost shrimp and MTS/Brown Ramshorns(getting rid of the Ramshorns, though).
Black background with Eco-Complete substrate; Penguin Mini, w/biowheel.
