gaMMa Small Fry Posts: 11 Kudos: 3 Votes: 1 Registered: 23-Feb-2005 | hi everybody, i kinda need help choosing how to stock my 16g. i really like tiger barbs, gouramis, most tetras etc. the problem is my lfs isnt consistent with there fish stocking. they get many different and rare fish 1 time and the next time they r sold out and they only have a few gouramies, so my stocking will kinda depend on my lfs's stock. but i'd like to know the posibilities. thanks |

Neons, black neons, glowlights, harlequin rasboras, flame tetras, and lemon tetras are a few that would work. I'd go with 8 of one type and then get a dwarf gourami. Tiger barbs are too large for your tank. I think a 20g long tank would be minimum. If you plant the tank and have some algae, 3-4 otocinclus would be perfect for that. |

I want to add a bit more colour to the tank. Would a betta work or will it be better to get more of the tetra? The tetra seem to be sort of nipping at each other, though there is no "damage". Is this normal? If not, what do I have to do? Thanks, Avinash. |

A dwarf or honey gourami would most likely work, since they don't have long fins like a betta. I would add atleast 2 more tetras and then look at adding a dwarf or honey gourami. Or you could just add 4 more tetras. The tetra seem to be sort of nipping at each other, though there is no "damage". Is this normal? If not, what do I have to do? That is normal for most tetras. They chase each other and nip, but usually no damage is done. My Flame tetras do the same thing and they sometimes have slight tail damage, but its really nothing. They don't bother other fish though. |
