I was telling my mom about how my oto was cramped in my 5 gal hex, and he should at least have 10 gal per oto(and a few friends), and she said i could get a bigger tank! I have to pay, but im willing to wait and save up my money.

Congratulations i think you may be getting tank fever. I've already got it. What size are you getting? And what fish do you plant to put in it. Have fun!

Its 25 Usgal.

I was thinking:

3 otos
6 red phantom tetras
1 Bn pleco(maybe)
(Possibly my 2 guppys)

Hmmm maybe a fish that will contrast to the red?

Is this a good tank for an angel?

I took a look at the 25 gallon. Wow! Expensive!! You can set up a tank much bigger than that for less money.

Take a look at these two places:

http://bigalsonline.com
Big Al's sells high quality stuff for cheap prices. Check out the aquaclear filters.

http://glasscages.com
Real good prices on tanks.

As for the stocking, since you already have the otos, I would skip on the BN (well if you really want one...). How about a centerpiece fish, like a gourami or smaller cichlid. The main concern for the angelfish is the room, especially the height of the tank. They need tall tanks, and need about 10-15 gallons for one angelfish.

i agree with soluble fish that is expensive. you could set up a 30g for way less. its not much better than a 10g as its only 20in long. i would suggest a 30g its 3ft long and you could fit double the fish in there. also it would be easier to plant than the 25g. you could set up a 30g for less than 100 bucks. if you could get a tank for less than 50$

Love the links, Soluble!

I have awhile to plan it all out, so im definately going to shop around.

Right now my stock list accomadates my guppies and oto. I like the color of a school of red phantoms, so i have my school. Right now im looking for a centerpiece. Something peaceful and full of personality.

Edit: The only thing i have trouble with is that the hood and light and the plastic cover that protects the light. Ive never picked out seperate equipment (which is why im rather fond of Marineland kits)

Edit2: I found out that a LFS near me deals All-Glass Aquariums, hoods and stands, so my tank dimensions might change slightly. I doubt Ill buy anything over a standerd 30 and ill most likely stay in the 20-25 gal range (space issues). My dimesions might be something like 24x12x20 or 30x12x18.

I'd recommend to always go for the most surface area that you can afford and have room for. I've got a 30, but wish I had gone that extra foot of length to get a 55, or better yet, gone another 6" deep to get a 75! BTW, consider the Bolivian Ram for a centerpiece fish. It's a nice first cichlid, and they are available in our area (I saw them recently at Meles in Springfield). They will be washed out in the LFS, but will color up in your tank, and are hardier than their 'cousins', the Blue/German Ram.
