Some online site are good...I was going to buy some fish from[link=http://www.liveaquaria.com]http://www.liveaquaria.com" style="COLOR: #FFFF80[/link] but they require you to buy at least 30 dollars in fish before they ship.

I think buying locally is the best. Try looking here: [link=http://www.cichlid-forum.com/reviews/lfs_index.php]http://www.cichlid-forum.com/reviews/lfs_index.php" style="COLOR: #FFFF80[/link]. It is a list of Local Fish Stores and their reviews. You might find a store near you that you didn't know about before. It's worth checking out.

If you are interested in Puffers, I would suggest making a post in that section, or visiting http://www.thepufferforum.com/

I have a 20 gallon with dwarf puffers and Ottos....and a 50 gallon with some SAPs (South American Puffers). Some people have mixed puffer species, but I don't think it's good idea for the inexperienced puffer keeper.
Yes, DPs are small, but they are very nippy. Both species of puffers I have can be pretty aggressive over food and space, and they do have 'teeth.' My DPs go after my Ottos at times and they are 2-3 times the DP's size.

A little... You just have to hold your gravel cleaner away from the sand a little so you dont end up sucking sand out of your tank. Another way I recently heard is to buy a very long gravel cleaner.

if you go with gravel, make sure that it is round gravel and not crushed stuff. Corys barabels get worn off on jagged gravel.

I think they prefer sand. I have had them with gravel and with sand, but i think they seem to like sand better they can nose around in it and dig and they leave little fin marks dragging behind them in the sand hehe

yeah i think the corys do school by sight so you would have to get the same kind, they do look so cute in their little shoal though, and they dart around like crazy! they remind me of like a family of rabbits or something.

yea i was thinking of doing corys since they keep the bottom nice and clean but do the corys all have to be the same breed? i.e. do they have all have to be albino corys to be happy in a school?

I think that dwarf puffers would be much better in a smaller tank with their own kid. If I were you I would take advantage of a nice community sized tank. here is whats in mine:

6 trilineatus corys
6 cardinal tetras
6 harlequin rasboras
2 male marigold swordtails
2 angels

yes, i know its muchos overstocked so no flames please, (the swords and angels are still very small so i have time to move things around.) right now it makes a very nice community tank and maybe you could do a variation of something like that like i was thinking of maybe doing 3 yo yo loaches instead of the cories, or you could do a different kind of similar sized tetras instead of cardinals, or rams or something instead of angels

yea i find dwarf puffers to be kind of cool. I really don't see how they can be so mean they are like 1 inch max size? who exactly are they picking on. Also does anyone know of a "good" online store that could ship fish?

Dwarves could do well in a puffer community tank---maybe 4 dwarves, a couple of irrubescos, and a SA or two.

If you want dwarf puffers, it would be best to have only dwarf puffers in the tank, as they can be quite nasty with other kinds of fish.

Keyhole cichlids are a type of cichild that reaches about 4 inches. I have some, and I love them. They have to be the most peaceful cichlids. They make great additions to a peaceful community tank.

If you were to go with keyholes and platies for example you can start out with:

6 platies (2m/4f)
a pair of keyholes

This is actually an understocked tank. The reason I limit the number of platies is that they will breed, and you will be up to your ears in fry. I left room to compensate that fact.

HTH

yea that sounds cool, but i am not familiar with "keyholes" what are they? Also i would like to fit a a good amount of fish in my 29 which is why small colorful fish would be nice. How many fish would be ok to stock in a 29, of course i know it depends on fish size but thats what im trying to figure out now.

Hmmm...what about livebearers? Platies or guppies would make a good choice (guppies stay about 1.5 inches, platies about 2.5 inches). They are very colorful and breed like crazy. You could feed your fry to your larger cichlids. With the livebearers you could keep a smaller cichlid, like bolivian rams or keyholes.

well like i said my 29 can be fully redone. I like the smaller cichlids but have no where to really buy them around here. I would like to kind of have a colorful tank of smaller fish generally 3 inches full grown or so. Right now i have a jack dempsey and a few other fish in my 29 which im gonna move cause they getting to big. Unfortunately my jack dempsey might have to go to a new home because he is quite aggressive and i don't know if he would fit well in my 75 with the other fish i already have.
