alright I decided to give uncle neds a try... picked up 2 rams today. I hope i didnt accidentaly get 2 males they are pretty young so its kinda hard to tell. I will let you know how they do, he had a ton of them.

Millis is near like milford/medfield/walpole/franklin/norfolk/holliston that area

edit: btw they were 12 bucks each... a little up there but they look healthy. I observed them for about 20 minutes or so before i purchased them and I didnt see anything unhealthy.

How much do german blue rams normally cost? I got mine for $7 each. I think they were marked as bolivian rams.

Yea i'm from Brockton MA. Framingham is a bit of a haul for me but maybe sometime i'll go up there. Also just to let you know german rams aren't as hardy as bolivian from what i've been reading. But those rams have some awsome color that are up for bid.

I still think pearl gouramis would be nice

and i know they are available here (you're from MA right?) I have seen them recently at tropic isle in framingham
actually tropic isle has a ton of interesting stuff you should go there and check it out. they have a ton of threadfin rainbowfish right now i need to go get 3 more...

but speaking of rams, I am looking for rams, too. maybe since you're from MA too we could order some off aquabid or something and split the shipping charge since its like 30 bucks this person seems to have good feedback and the price is not bad at all, plus they use fed-ex which i trust more than the USPS since last time i used USPS everything was DOA due to a shipping delay grrrr. but anyway i was looking at these: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwcichlids&1100811482

Well, if no rams are available, you could order them online. The reason I am suggesting a center piece fish is because I have all these fish in my 75 gallon. Now I do love my current set up, but I am really missing a center piece fish. I'm not 100% sure it's feasable, but if not a ram maybe a rainbow.

next tank i setup i would like to use a 29 gallon tank using community fish such as rummynose, harlequin rasbora, corys, and something for to eat the algae. I'm looking for help on a good ratio of fish to have in the tank.

i would like to get a m/f pair of kribs but they are more "bottom dwellers" and i think that they might get nippy towards cories, especially if they decide to breed.

Any apistogramma cichlid would do just fine, or a krib. Even an angelfish would work out. You could add a pair of cichlids if you toned down on the schooling fish.

An example of a stocking list:
6 cories
6 rasboras or tetras
2 small cichlids
1 bristlenose

Gouramis would work as well, but I'm biased towards cichlids.

i will definitly agree with the previose posts. The idea of a center piece fish does sound great. The ram suggestion would really compliment the aquarium. Six fish per school is a good number to go with. I would not consider anything less. And as far as the corys go, get the same species, they like it better this way. good luck with the tank

A centerpiece fish would be nice, or you could just have a bristlenose. I've got one in my 29 gallon, and he is pretty good at catching a person's eye! I think your idea sounds pretty good, just make sure you get at least six tetras, rasboras, and cories. They all do best in sizeable groups.

Well all the fish you mentioned except the fish to eat algae require at least 6.

So if you went:

6 rummy noses
6 rasboras
6 cories
and 1 BN

you could probaly pull it off, but you would have to make sure to make regular water changes. Might I suggest replacing one of the schools of rummies or rasboras and getting more of a center piece fish, perhaps a couple rams.
