Hello! I have a 30 gallon hexagon tank that I am looking to stock. Would I be able to put one pair of Angels in it? I know not much can go in a hex but I am open to ideas and advice.
Thanks!

i would think a pair of angels would do fine in that tank. im not an expert but im pretty sure they just need a tall tank.. now i know they can get pretty big, so im not sure on specific stocking.. possibly go with some cories on the bottom and the angels. perhaps someone else can help you with some stocking ideas.

Thank you! Yeah I know not much else can go in there which is fine. Its my bedroom tank and then I have an 80 gallon bow front in the basement too. I just really would like some angels.

I think you could fit a single angel in there. Most people say that the minimum for 1 would be a 29, and a 40 for 2. You could probably get some bottom feeders, and maybe a few tetras in there with a single angel.

A single Angelfish would probably be better in a 30 gal than a pair. You could have a setup, something like:

1 angelfish
8 tetras (not neons)
8 corys
1 bristle nose

Ok I went to the fish store and they said that the water where I live is not good for angelfish. So is there anything else I could put it a hex? Someone mentioned a betta but im not sure if they would like that tall tank since they breath air.

Most fish are adaptable, so unless you have a really high PH and Angel should be fine. There are some Dwarf Cichlids (such as Rams( that are a good size for a 30 - you could have a pair of these)

I never heard of the water being a problem if it is cycled properly. Did you bring some water to get tested -did the LFS workers come up with this conclusion from previous expeirences - or did the LFS worker just not feel like selling angel fish that day?

Maybe bring some water to get to tested to a different LFS and see if they have the same reaction.

Otherwise - Go with some schools or something smaller. Tetra's, barb's. . something that doesn't get real big but maybe adds a little color and personality to the tank.
