As stated previously an angel should workout okay in this tank, but I think I would limit it to a single speciman or at best a pair. You could add some bottom dwellers such as a school of the smaller cory's. Possibly, some top dwellers such as hatchet fish. Jim |

Tanya81 Fish Addict Posts: 633 Kudos: 419 Votes: 37 Registered: 27-Jun-2003 | Besides the OBVIOUS of angels.....what else have people done, the surface area isnt that small, you are right in that aspect, but it isnt terribly small, unlike a tall 15 gallon!!! (try that one on for size!!) But, i could get one for $50, with gravel, tank, stand and hood/light combo....such a cheap deal...! 72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up 75 gallon: A. Tanya81 Fish Addict Posts: 633 Kudos: 419 Votes: 37 Registered: 27-Jun-2003 | riri2, those are some great ideas, but a tad overstocked.....would need supurb filtering!!! What if i went the route of using gouramis... making it an asian sort of tank, using asain fish... gourami....loach(small ones of course... killies....etc.) a small school of harlequins.....do you guys like this idea? 72 gallon bowfront:Tanganyikan Lake set up 75 gallon: A. longhairedgit Fish Guru Lord of the Beasts Posts: 2502 Kudos: 1778 Votes: 29 Registered: 21-Aug-2005 | That sounds like a great idea, a few plants would be nice too. I think the surface might be crowded with gouramis and killies all hanging out near the surface, but it could work. I'd drop the idea of the pictus though, they need "whisker room" and being in small spaces drives them nuts, and consequently the other fish too. My pictus , have in less than 6 months gone from 1 inch to 5 and a half inches, and they are intensely greedy feeders. Go for a small shoal of scavengers like cories, or you could even have a load of amano shrimp and a few ottocinclus, it would save on algae scraping duties a bit. Hex's have a lot of corners and ottos are the only fish I can think of that do the corners |

riri2 Small Fry Posts: 3 Kudos: 1 Votes: 0 Registered: 13-May-2006 | a good asian tank that i would want would need to be a 200 gallon or more. U could go wit 4 Yoyo Loach 6 Harlequin Rasbora or 8 White Cloud Mountain Minnow 1 moonlight gourami 4 ottos needs to be havaly planted for it to look nice with a lot of caves and drift wood. try to make this look as natrual as posable to make it look nicer it could turn out to look like the best i have seen. |
