I just found out that my dad got a free 40 gallon tank at work. Along with the stand and a nice piece of driftwood. I was wondering...would this make a good Angelfish tank? It is a pentagon shape and fits into the corner. It is taller than my 55 by about 6 inches(not sure of exact measurements) I was thinking about getting a penguin 330 and helping it along with a bio-wheel form my current 330. If i couldn't go Angelfish what other fish could i get? Is this a good plan to help it along with a bio-wheel from my current filter? Thanks

I think it'd make a great angelfish tank. Just remember you can't stock it as heavily as rectangular tanks.

Ok so could i stock it like this...oh and I already knew i would have to stock it less heavily with the increased height. BTW it is 25 inches tall. any way could i stock it like this?...

1 Angel
6 Congo Tetras
8 Cory's

I'm not sure about the Congos, but i have always wanted them Hopefully they can fit.

I think I'm gonna go with Angelfish and a small-ish schooling fish. The tank is big enough to have swimming room and the congo tetras I have seen would definately love my tank. But maybe I will go with Cardinals. Went to the National Aquarium in baltimore today and in the Barnes and Nobles book store, they had this huge tank with a lot of Angelfish and Cardinal Tetras living happily, and a lot of other small tetras, and Discus, and other fish Any way I would probably stock it like this...

1 Pair of Angelfish
15 Cardinal Tetras
6 Cory's

That sound ok? Thanks for your input, can't wait for more suggestions

Well I know that, I have a tall tank, thats why I want them. Any way could I go with Discus Maybe? Someone mentioned that in an earlier post and I must have missed it:%) I might just stick to Angelfish.

The angel, cories, and harlequins! Nice looking fish, good schoolers, on the smallish side.

I saw congos today at a lfs, they're on my future-fish-wish-list too

Must you reply in all caps? ;_;

Anyways, I'd agree with green--one large angel as the showcase fish. With hexes and pents, you have the height, but not the length, so two random angels will most likely get into some sort of territorial dispute. If you're trying for a pair, I'd say that you'd need to go with at LEAST 4 angels to even have a chance (which is severely OS)--or you could always go online to find pre paired individuals ($$). Go with 6 cories and about 10 cardys (makes sure the cardys get in there first, and that they aren't small enough to be consumed).
