I have the ADF in there as well until I'm sure all the medication is out of the 20 gallon. The Shark is only about an inch long, but is already the boss of the tank. He's staked his territory out, and it's a cave in the back corner of the tank. He'll chase off everyone except my biggest male Cherry Barb and the frog. The stocking plan has also changed a bit. I'll still be adding the Tiger Barbs. But right now it looks like I'll be adding 8 Bronze Cories that I have in my 20 until they grow a bit, at the moment they are all less than an inch. I'm wondering if I could still be able to add any Loaches to this tank, because I'll have the Cories and the Shark which both occupy the bottom portion of the tank. I was thinking about Weather Loaches, Zebra Loaches or Kuhli Loaches, but I didn't want to crowd the tank so I thought I'd ask first and see what you guys think. |

I wasn't sure if they would be able to peacefully co-exist with the Barbs or not. If the Gouramis wouldn't work, what about another species of Barb? Maybe Rosy or Tee Barbs? I have also decided if I do add any Loaches to the tank they will be Kuhlis, about 4-6, I'm still undecided though. I also don't think I will be adding the BN to this tank, does anyone know of an algae eating fish that would work in this tank? Thanks. |

I've been interested in Gouramis to put in the 55 gallon. I've narrowed it down to Dwarf, Opaline, and Moonlights. Would they be okay with the Barbs? If so, what kind would be best to add, and how many would be okay? I'll be cutting the Tiger Barb school back to about 11-13 if I add them. The stocking as it stands now: 6 zebra danios 6 cherry barbs 1 RTBS 1 ADF that will be going back in the 20 I won't be adding to the zebra or cherry schools, and I definitely won't add another RTBS. If I do wind up getting Gouramis, I'll add them first and then add some smaller Tiger Barbs later, so the Gouramis can get used to the tank and stake out territories. I'm also wondering if there is an algae eater that would do good in this tank. I was thinking about the CAE since SAE are harder to find and like to be in groups. I would add the CAE last while it is small and the other fish are grown up, so hopefully it will learn it's place in the tank. I plan to get some floating Hortwort, some Eloda, Java Fern, and Java Moss. By the way, is it possible to keep Hornwort planted in the sand? |
