What is your pH right now? It is always better not to fiddle with your water quality if you can. Most fish, expecially if they are local, can adapt to your water condiditons.

If you can't get B sidthimunki, or dwarf loach, you could get B. almorhae (almora loach), B. berdimorei (Berdmore's loach), B. lohachata (pakistani loach/yoyo loach), B. modesta (orange-finned loach), B. morleti (Hora's loach), or B. striata (zebra loach). The most common of those are probably the yoyo, zebra, and orange-finned loach.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

I wouldn't risk the angel's fins with the tiger barbs. There are other centerpiece fish that would work better. How about:

15 tiger barbs
6 loaches (sidthimunki (sp?) if you can get them, definitely not clown loaches)
1 RTBS
1 apple snail (whatever floats you boat I guess)
2 pearl/moonlight/blue/opaline gouramis (whichever you like)
1 bristlenose pleco

EDIT: I forgot the pleco :%)

The tiger barbs may nip at the angels a bit while there young, but when the angles quckly grow larger then the barbs, the barbs should be the ones worried. I have always kept angels and barbs with no big problems.

No, sorry, the clown loaches won't fit the tank either. Take a look at the profiles of loaches on this site, and look for a loach that is 6 inches or less. Remember, they like their own kind, so at least 3 or 4 should be added for a tank.

The profiles of loaches (and other bottom feeders):

Wouldn't the tiger barbs nip at angels? Also, a common pleco will outgrow your 55 gallon. There are several plecs that can fit, one is the bristlenose pleco.

Besides that, it sounds like you are off to a good start.

If you are going for tiger barbs and the shark, loaches can hold their own with them.

I'll read up on them and see if I like what would be the max for this 55gal, I never really had a big tank before.

*edit* hows gold veil? they look like they can add some great color in.

*edit2* I see they like slighty acidic water would It hurt if the ph level was just .5 over their limit?

I would add a few angels as your centerpiece fish, as for the lobster, I have heard that they like to occasionly snack on the fish in the tank.
