Hi guys,

I finally aroused my passion for my previously unloved 5g hex tank - it's amazing what a new light tube and massive anubia on driftwood can do!

Of course, the only thing left to do is to put some fish in it...

Recommendations? I was thinking of a couple really nice looking guppies, but then I read a couple of posts recommending the bumblebee goby. Are bumblebees really hard to keep?

Anyway, the tank is pretty full with that piece of driftwood, and it has black silica gravel on the bottom.

I'd try and stay away from bettas a little bit (I've had a bad history with them!), and I want something a little different. Mind you I'm in Australia.

You can put a few sparkling gouramis in, or some Endler's livebearers.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Bumblebees are generally brackish. Many people, myself included, do keep them in FW...it depends on how they're kept at you lfs. They generally don't like to eat flake food either.

Male guppies, male Endler's, or a pair of cherry barbs would work.

Quick questions before I go and buy stuff

Are cherry barbs also known as rosy barbs?

Are sparkling gouramis also known as dwarf gouramis?

If I don't get those answered in time, I think I might go with the guppies

No to both

Sparkling gourami [link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/sparklinggourami.xml]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/sparklinggourami.xml" style="COLOR: #FFFFC0[/link]

Cherry barb [link=http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/cherry.xml]http://www.fishprofiles.com/files/profiles/cherry.xml" style="COLOR: #FFFFC0[/link]

Dwarf gouramis and rosies would get too big for a 5g.

Now I'm curious what you end up getting...keep up posted

I ended up getting 3 male guppies

I haven't seen those barbs or gouramis down here before... I wished I got more guppies though, cos my tank looks so empty..
