I really would like to keep the first 5 species that are listed and maybe a few tetras. I could go without the angels though since i know they require a lot of swimming room. I'm almost sure that this is over stocked but just need to understand exactly how overstocked this is. I've never kept a large tank before. Thank you very much for any help! -Danny boy ![]() |

As an adult, it might work but a juvenile BGKfish wouldn't be able to thrive under the boisterous antics of the cichlids - they prefer quieter surroundings. |

I would be worried that when the BGK gets big it would eat the rams..... dont those fish get large and are carnivorous??? I would also worry about kuhli loaches getting eaten by this BGK fish as well. The rest would be fine. I do not think you are overstocked. You could go for lemons, buenos aires, phantoms, serpaes, congos, pretty much any tetra that is penguin tetra size or larger. i think the BGK would eat smaller fish once it gets large. I'll wait until a fish gets eaten before I remove them. Plus, I plan to feed my BGK generously with frozen bloodworms, blackworms, frozen mysis shrimp, and freeze dried bloodworms and brine shrimp. Thanks for the replies... I'm glad I'm not overstocked!!!!'Also... Maybe cories would do better than khuli loaches??? And I forgot to add some kind of algae eater. What would be the best algae eating fish for this setup (preferably one that will also eat cynobacteria)? [span class="edited"][Edited by fishnewbie 2004-08-07 12:04][/span] |

Your best bet would be to get a flying fox. I have one and he eats tons of algae around the tank. Another option is a Farlowella catfish, they are neat, easy to keep, and are very efficient algae eaters. Hillstream loaches are also great algae eaters, and so are red tail black sharks and rainbow sharks. Heres a pic of my farlowella catfish: farlowella catfish A synodontis, depending on the type, many get very very large and aggressive with age. Be careful which one you choose if you choose any.
