Have you added pH adjusters? Did you do a large water change that evening? Abrupt changes in pH will make them do this, as will some other chemical factors. In addition, fish getting out of the way of a predator will also cause it and when he jumps, the predator may follow . What size tank is this? How long has it been set up?
