A little over 2 weeks ago I moved my Danios out of the tank that had ADFs. In just a few days I started seeing tadpoles in the tank. I have no idea how many there are cause the tank has a good amount of silk plants that could be hide outs. Does anybody know how to raise the little guys?

We got our first ADF as a tadpole (actually 3 tadpoles though only one survived) in a kit we bought for our son at a Discovery store. You get the equipment in the kit and send away for the tadpoles. The food that came with them was little pellets that we crushed between two spoons. Later when we got newts I bought some newt and aquatic frog food and the pellets looked just like the stuff that came with the tadpoles. It's called JURASSI DIET Newt & Aquatic Frog Food Made by JURASSIPET.

I think they'd be alright in the tank although the kit had just this plastic critter keeper big enough to hold about a quart of water. We had to put a light near it to keep it warm but I don't remember the recomended temp. I suspect it was in the low 80s.

I'd cover any intakes or siphon tubes with a piece of sponge so they don't get sucked up.

good luck, Mike

Thanks Mike! I actually have just a sponge filter in that tank, so they should be safe. But, I haven't seen any tadpoles in a few days. I think the frogs are having snacks between meals. Oh well. I decided to get some fish for this tank, so I doubt I'll ever see tadpoles again.
