My son seems to have lost his ADF...how long they can survive out of water?

Have you found it yet?

I don't know the exact length of time (I believe it's only several minutes), but if you haven't found the frog yet, it's certainly dead by now.

If your tank has a filter, i would check there- i had one once that would stay in the filter all day long and i guess would come out at night, but he always got back in the filter. make sure you check under/in everything!!! Good Luck, and i hope you find the little frog

He did check the filter and only found some MTS But luckily I received this email the morning after I posted this question:
This morning i got up and checked on my fish tank and Speedy was there.
Must've found a really good hiding place in that tank

i had a frog escape once i fond it dead in the corner on the opposite half of the room, it traveled about 15 feet. make sure to have the top of the tank covered well and that the heaters dont get neer the water surface.

It's a Mini-Bow 2.5g, I'll have to check the top and see if there are any escape routes.

Survival is less than 1 hour, unless your house is particularly damp. Escape artists, they are....lost about 14 of them from one tank between 1975-1979...found them all in a weird little 'mummified frog secret burial ground' behind an adjacent bookshelf when I moved....it was strange that they all ended up within 10" of each other.
