A Tank Size Question | |
goldfishgeek Fish Addict Posts: 667 Kudos: 412 Votes: 38 Registered: 27-Oct-2003 | Good heavens I have n't been here in ages! hope everyone is well and at least a few of you remember me. Due to lots of personal stuff I haven't really spent an awful lot of time on my fish recently but now I have the oportunity to sort them out and have decided, I want a new fish tank! who doesn't.... this is the current stock of my 25G -it is very badly over stocked. due to everything that has happened over the last year I condensed two tanks, and rescued some fish too, so I have, three Keyhole cichlids four guppies four mollies two cherry barbs two plecos (I know that is a disaster one was homeless) two clown loaches (equally homeless) How big - Gallon wise a tank should I get to stock these fish? I know they aren't entirely compatible and am working on a home for one of the plecos at the very least. I can possibly set a 12G but not really sure who I would put in there. so how big?? thanks and its nice to be back! GFG Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Anyway, with out the bottom guys your probably fine in the 25 gallon. The bottom guys probably would like a 125 gallon. its up to you, go with two tanks or go with one. like get a large tank like the 125 and add all of the fishes. Or keep the bottoms in a large tank, and keep your other guys where they are. in the larger tank you can do other things like increase the CL school etc... Just have fun with it |

I also want to add that i hope you have very heavy filtration on your 25 gallon. I know that not everyone can afford a 125+ gallon tank (i sure cant right now) so what i would do is get a tank you can afford and stock it to where your fish are comfortable. |

I am not sure what kind of plecos one was a rescue, as were the clown loaches. the orginal one my pleco is dark brown with gold spots....? the rescue does look like a common tho. The 25G is cycled and heavily planted, got two internal Fluval filters. *goes off to day dream about owning an 125G* cheers! GFGXX Never be bullied into silence.
