Can I put an adf in a 5g uncovered tank with a betta (I heard they jump so I don't think it will work). Or will they be better in a 20g community?

They definitly can jump, so the uncovered tank might not work. But, Bettas are supposedly jumpers as well, so that might not be good either. Either get or make a cover for the 5 gallon tank, or put them into the community tank. ADFs usually do fine with any small fish.

Thanks, but if bettas are jumpers than why do you see so many betta vases and bowls (I know aquarium companies don't always have the fishes needs in mind). Does anyone here have uncovered betta tanks?

It just depends on the betta itself. I have had my betta for a long time and not once has he tried jumping out and hes in a vase, which is uncovered. But I have read some really sad stories of bettas jumping out, like some other kinds of fish. I would buy a lid for your 5g. tank. I think the one i got was like under 5$ i think. So they arent expensive. So, yes I would definatley get a cover for the tank just to be on the safe side.

I thought vases have a small plastic cover on them, with a hole in the middle for the plant

Some of them have the plants.. but thats just something that you can add yourself. You dont have to add the plant.

So with the adf be ok in there with the betta (I am going to cover it). It wont have a filter so I am going to do 100% wc every 4-6 days.

With the tank covered, yes, that would be fine. With your planned water change schedule, you could even go with 2 ADFs if you wanted.

Yeah it should be fun. But just watch and make sure there isnt any aggression going on.And yeah I think that 2 would be ok in the 5g. tank also. Good Luck
