Today, I bought a pair of fish. As soon as I arrived at home, I put them into the aquarium and a strange scene came into sight!!! Both Guppies had air bubbles stuck to their sides and tails --- all over them!!!!

I chased them and the bubbles disappeared. Anyone knows why this happens and what exactly happened?

I'm not sure why it happens, but that happens in my tank!

I freaked out the first time, thinking it was ich. I have had a bubble wall in my tank, which is where the bubbles came from. I have left it in there as I had raised the tank temp for the 'ich.'

So I'm curious what causes the bubbles to stick as well.

i think its because the water from the tap is supersaturated with gasses. when you let the water out of the tap, it takes a little while for the excess gasses to release themselves from the water.

the bubbles tend to stick to everything in the tank.

You're absolutely WRONG Callatya!!!!
I do not use tap water - my aquarium water comes from my well.

Unless you are using the old hole in the ground with a bucket type of well, it "is" still coming from a tap, and therefore "is" tape water.

Exactly as phoneshannon said... unless you're literally bringing water up out of the well bucket by bucket, then you ARE using it from a tap. I assume you get your water from a sink? Water has to be pressurized to get it to travel through your pipes, and that's where the bubbles come from.

Otherwise... well, it wouldn't work, because you need the water to come UP through the pipes, and gravity just doesn't help you out there.

That happens when I do a water change to my betta tanks. At least in my case, it IS the gases from the tap. I always fill the tank enough so I can still stick my hand in and brush them all off a few times and stir the gravel a little. It usually takes 1-2 hours for all the gases to escape. If these bubbles stick to your fish too long, they will cause open sores.
