Could someone please tell me what are the symptomes for excessive or not enough iron in the water, expressed by both plants and fish? What do irons do to fish and plants? Can excessive or not enough iron affect the health of the fish? Cheers, Jimmy |

As for excesses, excess iron can cause a real nice algae outbreak, at least it does for me. As for fish, I can't say as though I've ever heard of a fish being killed or sick from iron excess. Most of the iron you'd be adding to tank would be in chealted form, unless I am mistaken, therefore not as dangerous. They have iron test kits, although I can't say how reliable they are. The one I have is made by red sea I think. I think you'd have to turn over the bottle of flourish iron or whatever in your tank before you'd have to worry about hurting some fish, so just follow the instructions and I think you'll be fine. |
