SO! i am going to try it out with the little angels and go from there. They'll at least have a while before they get to card-harassing size, and by then I will be able to see if they seem to be bothering them. |

So far i have not even seen the angels so much as look at the cardinals. Last edited by tessa38uk at 24-Oct-2004 12:23 http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

I have had a successful tank of two angels with 12 cards for about one year. The angels do not harass the cards at all. If you get the angels small enough and the cards are already in the thank, there are no problems. In fact cards school better when there is a bigger fish present. My Scapes |

I have to say this, from my experiences, that Angels and Cardinal Tetras should never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never be kept together as the Angels will constantly harass them, by breaking up the school, and will kill them, as in the wild Angels feed on Cardinals and Neons as prey. So Devon7, my advice is to NOT buy the Angels. |

In fact I'm looking to replace my 46g with a 72g tank, because one Angel I bought small the size of a quarter is already 3 times the size in 3 months and he looks a little cramped in my 46g tank. devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | hmmmmmm.... well it seems like a 4 ways split this way: 25% - yes, angels are fine 25% - no, will eat cards 25% - no, tanks too small 25% - no, will eat cards and the tanks too small so! that leaves me a 25% chance of this working out the way i ideally would like... I think I will look into one very young/small gold or gold pearlscale angel as I find them quite beautiful and then I will go from there... I suppose I will just come up with some alternate plans should I have any problems. |

I have kept two angels in a 46g tank with a school of 14 cardinals, none have been eating or even harassed by the angels. A 29 gallon tank is really two small for Angels which will grow to almost a foot in size if you count fintip to fintip. The trick to keeping Angels with Cards is to have the Cards in there when the Angels are small, then as the Angels grow they don't consider them food. My Scapes |

devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | if for some reason i did end up with a breeding pair of angels, would they terrorize the other fish? I have harlequin rasboras, corys, and cards. I also have 2 young male swordtails but I would probably have to take them out to add any angels, or else there would be no room, right? |

Therefore, by breeding standards, they are considered relatively peaceful. |

(hohoho) - here in oz, angels are pretty well-known for their strong territorial behaviour when breeding - hence the need for keeping them in a large enough tank so the tankmates (if there are any) can avoid them and their spawning site...the trouble comes because they're always moving the bloody babies!! |

Large hypostomi are notorious for often swimming right up to the eggs and eating them. On a seperate note, cards and angels are fine together. |
devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | I saw some beautiful yellow and white angels at the fish store the other day... but i also have a school of 6 cardinal tetras. would the angel(s) harass them and eat or try to eat them? would adding more plants alleviate the situation? the tank already has many plants but I want to add more anyway ![]() Also, this is for a 29 gallon tank, would 2 angels fit or will they be too crowded? what are the benefits of having a pair? would they be more comfy with this kind of small gallonage if they were a pair because they hang out together? (as opposed to 2 males or 2 females?) also, if it were a pair would they be less aggresive to the cardinals, or would this make them more aggresive to other fish? |
devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | I like rams, as much as to take out the the fish and rescape my 10g so that I may keep a pair in there So i dont think i want rams in the 10g AND the 29g |

If you get an over-agressive male krib or a breeding pair, most of your fish could be in danger. What about a pair of Rams ? Last edited by DaFishMan at 16-Oct-2004 17:25 The Amazon Nut... |
devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | hmmm all this conflicting info! I'd like to know how many people have actually kept cards with angels and if they have kept them with or without problems... can somebody make a poll or something like that? |
